when bad TV shows a glimmer of greatness

okay, so the much-maligned series The L Word is often worthy of maligning -- it's been plagued (on and off) with bad writing, lame storylines (jenny, anyone?), stunt casting (cybill shepherd? really? heaven help you), bad acting (again, cybill shepherd...really!) and the ubiquitous presence of the band betty...who are terribly uninteresting but whose lead guitarist is in a relationship with L's executive producer and has thus been added to the show's production team as composer, producer and writer. whatever.

ANYWAY...

occasionally, the show demonstrates that, when the planets around The Planet align, it can produce some truly great moments. the clip below, which aired in canada two weeks ago and is the opening of a season-four episode, is a terrifically orchestrated piece of comedy on par with the infamous "sussing out the sous chef's sexuality" reconnaissance mission of season one. the language is NSFW, but there's nothing in the visuals that might get you in trouble if you're watching this at the office. and you don't need to follow the show to enjoy it...so, enjoy!

(and, yes, i realize how cliché it is for me to be talking about The L Word, which is why i've never mentioned the show before...but the clip kicks ass.)
