the morning in five words

i woke up early today.

the weather was blissfully cool.

the skies were beautifully clear.

too perfect to stay in bed.

before breakfast, out i went.

tree-lined streets were shady.

sun-dappled sidewalks were warm.

there were many adorable dogs.

i strolled along the boardwalk.

the lake water was still.

canada geese swam in groups.

people on benches drank coffee.

people at tables read papers.

joggers huffed and puffed past.

feet kerplunking on wooden planks.

cyclists whirred along paved paths.

playgrounds eagerly awaited their children.

last night's rain slowly evaporated.

the smell of pine wafted.

walkers like me just walked.

happy to trek in peace.

quietly inhaling the morning air.
