i was sitting on the subway earlier tonight, headed downtown.

the subway pulled into a station and a beautiful woman got on. like, model beautiful. dressed-down, super-casual, i-don't-realize-i'm-stunning model beautiful. heidi klum on her day off beautiful.

and, as she stepped inside the car, she looked right at me and gave me this great big smile. then she sat down directly opposite me.

in about three seconds, my imagination had us meeting, dating, falling in love and living happily ever after.

then i looked down at her left hand.

engagement ring and wedding ring.
